Top Summer Foods for Health

Summer is my favourite season… and along with summer is the vast amount of ‘in season’ fresh fruits and veggies that are available.  Any fresh food you consume is much better for your health than a packaged product.

There are many fruit and veggies to choose from.  Here are some of my summertime favourites:

Sprouts
Packed with nutrition, a cooling food and perfect for adding to salads.

Watermelonwatermelon
91% water, which means it’s a tasty way to stay hydrated during hot summer days.  Melons are best eaten alone and not mixed with other foods.

Cucumber
Like the watermelon, cucumber is made up of mostly water.   Also contains Vitamin C and B Vitamins.

Citrus Fruits
Oranges, lemons, limes and grapefruit are all beneficial.  They are rich in fibre and Vitamin C.  I love adding lemon to my water on a hot day.

Bananas
Contain a chemical called dopamine which boosts your mood and also contains B Vitamins.  I enjoy adding bananas to my smoothies or just simply eating them as a snack.
