Powerful Benefits of Coconut Oil

Powerful Benefits Of Coconut Oil

Coconut Oil is a tropical fruit which has a sweet, nutty taste. It is a good source of B-vitamins and a great source of fibre, calcium, iron, and magnesium.

Coconut Benefits Include:

  • Improves immune system
  • Contains antimicrobial properties which kills bacteria
  • Lowers risk of diabetes (helps improve the bodies response to insulin)
  • Reduces joint and muscle inflammation
  • Strengthens liver
  • Eases acid reflux and promotes proper digestive function

“It may surprise you to learn that the naturally occurring saturated fat in coconut oil is actually good for you and provides a number of profound health benefits, including improving heart health, supporting your immune system, boosting your thyroid and improving your skin.

“Nearly 50 percent of the fat in coconut oil is of a type rarely found in nature called lauric acid, a ‘miracle’ compound that your body converts into monolaurin, which has anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties,” — Dr Mercola.

Powerful Benefits of Coconut Oil

Choosing a Coconut oil:

This really comes down to preference.  Do you enjoy the taste of coconut?

  1. Virgin Coconut Oil
The purest grade of coconut oil.  The good stuff!  The oil is derived from the meat of mature coconuts. No chemicals used to extract the oil.
  2. Extra Virgin Coconut Oil
No different than virgin coconut oil.  Hmmm, is there a difference or is it all in the marketing?
  3. Refined Coconut Oil
It is not the purest, but provides all the benefits of coconut oil without the coconut taste.  Refined does not mean that unhealthy additives have been added.  Ensure the coconut oil indicates expeller pressed (a natural, non-chemical process of extracting oil).
  4. Liquid Coconut Oil
Less natural coconut oil, some of the goodness of the coconut oil is removed, like Lauric Acid, a healthy fat found in coconut oil.   It is safe to use, but you are not getting the full benefits of coconut oil.
  5. RBD Coconut Oil
Refined, Bleached and Deodorized.   Need I say more?!  The coconut oil does have a  coconut taste and you won’t find any benefits of the coconut oil.

What is your favourite coconut oil and how do you incorporate it into your health?
