Oil Of Oregano Top Uses
Oregano, commonly used in pasta sauces can also be transformed into an herbal oil with a wide range of benefits.

Oil of oregano is distilled from the flowers and leaves of the oregano plant. This natural oil can be used multiple ways to help protect you from bacteria.
Oil of oregano contains a compound called carvacrol, which has been shown to help break through the outer cell membranes that help protect bacteria from the immune system. Studies have shown that oil of oregano is effective at killing bacteria, and could also help the immune system take action against viruses, fungi and parasites. – Dr. Oz
Oil of Oregano Top Uses:
Hand sanitizer:
- 10 drops of oregano oil
- 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
- Rub into your hands as a natural hand sanitizer
Vaporizor:
To help your immune system fight a respiratory infection,
- 1 drop of oil of oregano in a bowl of steaming water
- Place a towel loosely over your head
- Inhale the steam once a day
Acne Spot Treatment:
- Combine equal amounts of oregano oil and olive oil (or coconut oil)
- Apply to problem areas with a cotton swab before going to bed
- Let it soak in
- Don’t use it directly on broken skin
Freshen Your Breath:
Oil of oregano contains thymol, an ingredient used in many mouthwashes which helps combat bacteria, plaque and bad breath.
- add a drop of oil of oregano onto your toothbrush with toothpaste
- brush your teeth
NOTE: If you have an allergy to oregano, you should not use oil of oregano. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should avoid oil of oregano, or consult first with a physician.
Make Your Own Oil of Oregano:

The ratio for making oil of oregano is 1:1. Equal parts of oregano and oil.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup Olive oil, Almond oil or Grape seed oil
- 1/2 cup Oregano leaves chopped or crushed (leaves must be wash and completely dry)
- Sanitized Jar with lid
- Sunny Window
Instructions:
- Boil water in sauce pan. Once it is a rolling boil turn off the heat.
- Place the oil and chopped oregano leaves in the sanitized jar.
- Place the jar into the hot water and let it sit for about 5-10 min. (This allows the oil to heat up and helps the oregano to release its oils.)
- Remove the jar from the water and place in a sunny window for 1-2 weeks.
- Shake the jar every few days.
- Once the two weeks have passed, strain the oil from the leaves.
- Place into a sanitized jar.
- Store the oil in a dark, cool place.
Tip: Add a few drops of grapefruit seed essential oil to help preserve the oil.
This recipe is not an essential oil but an infusion. Essential oils are highly concentrated and should never be applied to the skin with out a carrier oil.
