Honey A Natural Antibiotic Remedy
Honey has been around for centuries, but did you know it has many healthy uses. It can help with soothing a common cough to healing a small wound.
Honey is quite unique, containing sugar, trace amounts of enzymes, minerals, vitamins, and amino acids. It is unlike any other sweetener. Although it may be a natural sweetener, it is high in fructose and must be consumed in moderation.
Honey is made by bees in one of the world’s most efficient facilities, the beehive. The 60,000 or so bees in a beehive may collectively travel as much as 55,000 miles and visit more than two million flowers to gather enough nectar to make just a pound of honey! www.honey.com

Honey has antibacterial properties. However, not all honey is created equal. Some honey will have much more beneficial antibacterial properties than others. The honey purchased in your grocery store is probably highly processed and will contain little to no beneficial properties. Manuko honey, comes from the Manuko tree in New Zealand and is know to have higher antibacterial properties.
When purchasing honey, look for honey that is raw or unpasteurized.
How To Use A Natural Antibiotic Remedy:
Soothe a Burn:
Apply a thin layer of honey to help ease the stinging sensation of a burn. The antibacterial properties may help prevent the burn from becoming infected.
Help Heal A Minor Cut:
Apply a thin layer of raw honey to a minor wound to help sterilize the cut and help it heal with less scabbing.
Boost Your Immunity:
Try Dr Oz’s “Hot Ozzy”
- 1 tbsp Honey
- Hot Water (not boiling)
- Lemon Wedge
- 2 tsp Lemon Juice
The Phytonutrients in raw honey have antibacterial and antiviral properties that may help boost your immune system.
Natural Cough Suppressant:
Next time you have a nasty cough, rather than run out and grab an over the counter cough medicine. Try some honey. Its thick consistency helps coats the throat.
