Healthy Foods That Taste Great

Just because something is healthy for you doesn’t mean by default it tastes awful.  Take a look the the list below of some healthy, great tasting foods.

When picked fresh from a local farmer, you can’t go wrong. An excellent source of vitamin C, carotenes, zinc, potassium, iron, calcium, and magnesium, and they’re high in fibre too.

Blueberries

These little guys are one of the healthiest fruits you can eat, they are high in fiber and heart-healthy antioxidants.

Dark Chocolate

Cherries

They contain powerful antioxidants . Sweet cherries contain fibre and vitamin C. Cherries also contain anti-inflammatory compounds, and research suggests they may help to relieve pain from inflammatory osteoarthritis and gout.

Avocados

Avocados are low in fructose and rich in healthy mono-unsaturated fat. Avocados are also very high in potassium. They provide close to 20 essential health-boosting nutrients, including fibre, vitamin E, B-vitamins, and folic acid. Besides eating them raw, you can use avocado as a fat substitute in recipes calling for butter or other oils.

Sweet Potatoes

Orange-coloured sweet potatoes have beta-carotene, an antioxidant that can help ward off free radicals that damage cells. This antioxidant can help support your immune system, as well as lower your risk of heart disease.

Watermelon

This sweet treat contains a variety of nutrients including: Vitamin C, Vitamin B6, Potassium, Vitamin A and Magnesium

I love all of these healthy foods that taste great!  Remember, they are healthy, but eating in moderation is still important.
